Must Haves
- 3+ years working in equity research or investment analysis
- CFA designation or meaningful progress (Level II+)
- Demonstrated ability to build detailed financial models and valuation frameworks from first principles
- Strong understanding of intrinsic value, margin of safety, and capital allocation analysis
- Based in or willing to relocate to Cape Town
Nice to Haves
- Your own portfolio or investment journal - evidence you do this outside of work
- Experience at a peer firm in South African asset management (Allan Gray, Coronation, Denker Capital, or similar)
- Bloomberg Terminal proficiency
- Advanced Excel or Python modelling
Core Responsibilities
- Deep, bottom-up research on South African and global equities
- Build and maintain proprietary financial models from first principles
- Present investment ideas and defend them through honest, rigorous debate
Expectations
- Within 30 days: You have rebuilt the financial model on at least two portfolio holdings from scratch and identified one thing you would do differently from our current position.
- Within 60 days: You have presented an original investment idea to the team with a full valuation, a thesis, and a variant view you can defend under pressure.
- Within 90 days: You are covering a defined set of names independently and your research is being used to inform active portfolio decisions.

Compensation
- R35,000 per month base salary
